My inspiration around designing this home~

I believe a home should be a reflection of what comforts and uplifts you, a place that holds your story. When I design a space, I see a house as a book—each room a chapter, each detail a passage that shapes the narrative of your life. What are the moments, memories, and inspirations that define you? Through color, texture, and the dance of light, you weave those memories into the fabric of your home. Every choice—bold or subtle—becomes a thread in your personal tapestry.

This fixer house has always felt like a ship ready to set sail—its siding jutting past the foundation like the hull of an Asian junk boat. The curved dormer roof mimics the ship’s elliptical sails, accented by a splash of Chinese red trim. A deep teal exterior mirrors the ocean which reminds me of my youth and time with my dad on his fishing boat. I chose colors that were intended to make the structure look as if it should be floating. That sense of movement continues inside, where a hallway mural leading to the basement channels the lush jungles of Costa Rica’s Osa Peninsula. Water, earth, birds, and bursts of color ripple throughout, giving the home a living, breathing rhythm.

The lighting is designed to feel fluid. There are shades reminiscent of old Japanese fishing floats, while vintage etched glass scatters starlike patterns, as if guiding the way like a navigator at sea. Orbs hover like ethereal jellyfish—drifting, weightless, but without the tangle of tentacles.

Wallpaper’s were also used to evoke smell, movement and place. Take the entry ceiling as walk into the house — I’d like to think if you stood underneath this magnolia flowers for too long some pollen stain your shirt color. Color crumbs.

Now its your turn – I dare you to dip into the wonderous fun of finding YOU in your space. And if you need some help, give me a ring!
